Motivation

By virtue of Malaysia’s gateway position towards the Southeast Asian region and due to the growing domestic demand, German exports to Malaysia increased to €5.5 billion in year 2011. Currently more than 350 German firms are investing in Malaysia, making Germany one of the top investors in Malaysia. German products are known for their high quality and reliability. These products are produced by hi-tech German companies. Malaysian universities are taking up the challenges to support them with qualified human resources. Collaboration between Malaysian and German universities is vital for the human capital development.

The German-Malaysian Workshop Series addresses new challenges in product engineering. Focusing on a specific theme from year to year, the workshop series provides an avenue for scientific presentations as well as for discussion and networking amongst German and Malaysian researchers.
